The difference between ARM and 4DS? ARM design systems, 4DS just has a component of a system - to get it to market it still needs to be packaged in a product(s) (DIMM memory cards could be the go, especially if DRAM is the target)
Having a technology in one company's hands didn't impede the adoption of PCs - Intel became the dominant CPU player in the PC market.
If you have a platform agnostic memory manufacturer (ie. Micron, Samsung) come to the party they will be happy to fab for whoever wants their RERAM products. Apple isn't going to do that. Intel could see it as a way of regaining their dominant position on the market.
