simple booker . . the ones who define the rules (asx) are the ones that benefit (volume and liquidity) and asic who oversees it . . have little independence and are complicit in looking after retail investors who are the primary ones inpacted by shorting.
change will only come from above asx and asic but that would require a government with strength and we have bot had one of those for a very long time.
look at countries like korea . . boom, short selling is banned. decision made.
australia . . have you got the balls to ban / regulate short selling?
