My understanding is the Bill to ban uranium imports from Russia, from 2028, passed the U.S. Lower House 'on a show of hands' = bipartisan support. It has now been sent to the Senate and is expected to pass.
The problem is the ...from 2028 bit.
I assume this was to provide clear incentives for both US miners to re-start mothballed mines and for uranium enrichment facilities to get their assets backup and fully functional.
The sting is a clear 5 years warning for Russia/China to screw things about and if Russia can, given the real state of their economy, forgo very needed foreign sales.
