Have you built or worked on a 500MW Combined Cycle unit? A lot of countries are pulling out these plants due to the cost to maintain them and when you shutdown these plants which provide base load power, you have to have generation running to replace the output of the 500MW.
If you think that you can build a 500MW plant in 2-3 yrs you are kidding yourself! The infrastructure is far greater than 50MW units.
When you look at the location of where we will be using the generation, you have a far greater amount of issues to contend with.
With banks of 50MW units which can be remote operated and monitored the risk is greatly reduced.
Performance, efficiency and reliability will be key factors in driving what is installed.
