Considering overseas car makers want to sell their products in Australia I think this decision should benefit Australia. Australia is adopting EU emission standards that were introduced in 2021. I don't understand why this wasn't passed ealier, since the current emission standards are from 2009! The Euro 6d rules were already proposed in Australia in 2017 years before they came into effect here. There was plenty of time to consider adopting it 1:1 or in a modified form.
Strict new-car emissions standards coming to Australia from 2025, utes and 4WDs among hardest hit - Drive
