The company needs to implement a dual strategy in that they should be taking advantage of the experience that Delta has with its 20 or so aircraft fitted with CVM at the APB and apply with Delta to the FAA for either a Service Bulletin or an AMOC - which ever it is that is appropriate. This approval would thus be for all existing aircraft of which I understand there to be hundreds of them. Shouldn't be too difficult given the FAA has already approved CVM for use elsewhere. In the mean time Boeing can play around with their butterfly force fields trying to get cracks that won't come. Unless the outcome of this endless testing with Boeing is that they take up CVM for use across all aspects of the air frame and they apply for all such applications to the FAA for this broad use - the only benefit of the current approval path is that they install the CVM at the APB at air frame build time.
