Agree, although it may just be for the Horst block in the structure, more lessons will be learned when they drill the 6 inch and see what’s actually going on underneath it in the Lower Angwa, as KG and Petere have suggested, it may be the Horst block structure forcing that pressure if it is sealed off from adjacent blocks, whereas the upper part could be equalising with Upper Angwa in adjacent blocks. Could it also suggest a second seal over the entire LA structure to go with the seal over the Upper Angwa.
Every well will be different depending on distance of the step out, nearly 7kms is a big step out from the Wildcat, and the structure layout looks to have lined up even with faulting and lifting, different horizons will do better in some areas rather than others. The chance of drilling a duster in this structure with so many horizons is probably very low now, some wells will be better than others etc. but that’s how a field works. 3D will greatly improve the choice of well locations.
Personally I hope we do go risk off after flow testing and farm down or JV Mukuyu, we’ve rolled the dice on two wells, we’ve still got 80% of the basin, we’ve got the results - high gas shows above background, net pay (albeit conservative atm) samples bought to surface without stimulation. Improved net pays, liquids and flow testing will be the definitives for value add.
Yes we have a cr, yes the timing is abysmal, yes the sp has been sunk again, but it’s obviously necessary to continue to move forward, there’s no getting around that.
The recent Mou is important, Sable and Tatanga are still looking to build a solar park which effectively could rule out Sables interest in any gas (I assume) if they decide to give it the green light. So having still Tatanga interested in going forward with that project with “other Zimbabwean interests” is important. I think that has been lost on people. There will be plenty of other interest but Sables mou may come off the table unless it is used for something other than energy production.
