There are obstacles in all scenarios - both coal and renewables. But why should they be restricted to coal based energy, requiring them to constantly purchase coal, ship it over, truck/rail it to the communities, etc etc. when you could set up a solar farm (as you mentioned, many, not just one) which required minimal infrastructure and minimal ongoing costs?
Yes, I agree there are obstacles in either scenario. But the renewable source has and is being implemented (again, go check out the video I posted above, go from 16:30 and watch a couple of minutes) it's actually quite a simple idea. Not just solar either.
