In regards to dividends if they are doing a bid all scrip for STO it will be interesting what will happen to WDS price as STO is paying stuff all Div , has low / no franking credits and using all its cash on debt reduction and infrastructure capital assets . So if WDS incorporates STO and initially there is a delay in regards to any cost savings and normally there are larger cash outflows and consolidation happens , executives get released, KPI met etc
Obviously any actual merge is months off but WDS for perception stakes and relative valuation needs to keep div up even if it knows there will be a cash crunch. If WDS doesn't keep it's payout up and franking it will be accordingly valued lower by the market and on a scrip for scrip basis will get a worse deal in buying STO. WDS could offer part cash for STO which may interest some holders as a tax free capital return component.
Interesting that with Sunrise on perpetual hold, Timor is headed towards going broke or mega recession guaranteed that Timor Resources is out promoting itself trying to get funding and basically threatening that it will use Chinese dollars as a option . China may become a large influence in Timor same as the games being played in Solomons, and PNG trying and succeeding to influencing government at every level with a long term vision for China.
Will WDS pay a larger than expected div at top of range and try and support its market cap and metrics with the larger picture to steal STO even cheaper on a all share offer??
