I understand the self-interest role of investment houses newsletters and analyst reports. Yet to dismiss them out of hand without assertaining whether some truth can be gleaned can be a mistake for investors with closed minds.
Witness the institutional reports a few years back predicting the emergence low-grade laterite nickel mining and processing in Indonesia. Hard rock nickel fan-bois, of which I was one, ridiculed the HPAL plants as unproven pipe dreams.
Yet five years later, see the @Scarpa chart above depicting Indonesia's significant increase in the production of wet laterite for battery grade nickel.
Is the same thing occurring with China's low grade leopidite...is it prudent to dismiss the reported increase in production, ignoring China's capacity for technical innovation and reducing costs, at the expense of ESG and environmental concerns? I think not. JMO.
