Near the end of that presser they both admitted they chose to go with the ugliest (Labor) of the 2 girls at the dance because shes less likely to leave them.
Jack replied to Amoco Tue 07 Sep 10 (04:31pm) Job was too big for a pair of giggleheaded fools. The elctorate over Australia and their own indicated what they thought. So they have voted for a broadband white elephant and a carbon tax. They obviously do not have the internet to see no nation in the world except New Zealand is stupid enough to have a carbon tax. They were overwhelmed with detail they could not understand and have the capacity of a twisted sandshoe. All I can say is that these fools should enjoy their last years in parliament. They are finished bloody traitors. Lookout Australia.
twostix replied to Margaret Tue 07 Sep 10 (04:11pm) I dont get what all the fuss is about.
This grouping is going to be utterly farcial. At best the independents will be a constant thorn in the side of Labor, draining Labors political capital and rightly or wrongly making Labor out to be even more incompetent than they already are (imagine having to actually deal with Oakeshott, good grief!) . At worst Labor will play true to form and steam roll them on every issue (Labor and the left dont negotiate with *anyone* get that straight) and the independents will throw a hissy fit and call an election.
Most Australians are already irritated and annoyed with the highly visible horse dealing between Labor and the indies and to a lesser extend the coalition, so the coalition just need to sit tight and let them hang themselves over the next 12-18 months.
I predict gridlock, much bickering and much grandstanding by the indies. A gridlocked left wing government is a good government. So why the tears?
John from Bundoora replied to Margaret Tue 07 Sep 10 (06:10pm) Waddler, perhaps if the independents didnt represent overwhelmingly CONSERVATIVE electorates who OVERWHELMINGLY didnt want a Labor-Greens coalition then perhaps the tone would have been different?. For example, everyone expected the Greens Admam Bandt to side with Labor..even if the ungrateful snot only won on Lib preferences! That aside, combined Greens-Labor support was overwhelmingly evident in the seat of Melbourne...in short he acted in accordance with the will of the people in his electorate (even if they are largely brain dead) Can you see the difference yet?
Even if Oakshot went to the Lib-Nat Coalition, his 2.5 weeks of showboating was still absolutely cringe inducing and I dont believe many in Australia were happy the way these 3 independents dragged their feet for so long sending out mixed & cryptic messages.
A Liberal win would have been nice, yes, but there would have been no getting away from having Oakshot/Windsor/Katter noose around their neck, I wouldnt have been entirely comfortable with it.
The good thing is, Oakshot and Windsor will be shot out of their seats like a ball out of a cannon come the next election. Juliar must have greased them up REALLY well!
I think Labor DESERVE the Greens and these Independents, the train wreck will be huge.
