Yeah, I did a bit of research and from my understanding Type 1, and Type 2 are different. Beta cells in the pancreas of Type 1 patients are destroyed, whereas in a Type 2 patients they still produce insulin. In Type 2 diabetics the body's cells don't accept the glucose molecules to be absorbed because the cells don't recognize the insulin to open up the pathways for entry, which causes a buildup of glucose in the blood, and that's what leads to all the negative health implications, like kidney disease.
Sort of a simple explanation and I am waiting on the company to get back to me to clarify this, but I think this latest breakthrough may not be the panacea for Type 2 but could well be for Type 1, eventually.
