Your inability to understand it, doesn't invalidate it. May I ask if you have any formal education in environmental chemistry? geology? physics? oceanography? paleoclimatology? meteorology?
Not having a formal education in these topics certainly doesn't disqualify you from commenting, but these are very complex topics.
Yes, you're right. Sometimes variables are hard to quantify. But we make do with what we have. We mention the error (the science term of error, not being incorrect) Its called the precautionary principle. Projections are made, and unsurprisingly many of the predictions have been quite accurate.
