"A $0.50 bulb will give you about $10 worth of produce, good trade!"

    YES!
USe the garlic shoots (leaves) as chives as it grows :-)

    Also for the gardeners list:

BASIL - Plant a cutting of the fresh basil you buy at the supermarket, straight into the ground, (or a bottle of water and roots will grow, then plant)

LAVENDAR - break a bit and plant it the same way, good for desserts, home made fabric softener, incense (dried and placed in oil burner, experiment with different oils for potency).

SWEET POTATO - find the end with the most eyes (as with potato - they have a top and bottom!) and plant in soil.

POTATO - same as above, except plant down inside 70cm worth of hay or young compost. MYTH - planting potatoes or any root vegetable into a stack of tyres filled with soil - this will give you various types of poisoning, beginning with Cadmium Poisoning - NEVER EVER plant in tyres, let you Gran know ;-)

I think we need a gardening thread!!!! (Excitement from me)
I'm sure we all have a lot more to share now that the garlic bits been shared :-)

    L
