So up until this point the 26th of January was NOT known as Australia Day. The 26th of January was celebrated by NSW until 1888 and then it was...you guessed it...a bunch of white nationalist adopted it in Victoria. The first use of that term Australia Day wasn't used until after the first world war;
Therefore coming out with the 'Always was, always will be' BS is just another example of a racist dog whistle.
