Already people are buying LFP batteries for boats and caravans as well as most Chinese EVs. Not sure where Ni fits into the LFP batteries that are taking over the battery world?
Aside from the relatively high costs of Co and Ni, you also have the security of supply issue of both Ni and Co, and particularly Co being dependent on the DRC that is killing the old-style batteries. If you have to track your Cobalt back to authorised production (which is coming in many places) it's even worse.
While Li looks secure until Na or other metals take over, Ni's security is not at the same level.
In every single case of a new LFP battery, that is one less Ni-based battery that is needed, suppressing demand for Ni.
