The Copper and Lithium dynamics are very different.

Copper price actually grew last year. Lithium was utterly smashed.


I suspect that China with all its power ( and it's an absolute behemoth in the commodities space ) is vastly less influential in Copper vs Lithium given Copper is needed everywhere.

Given the universality of Copper it isn't beholden to the same whim of the Chinese cadres and co. Little doubt they have profound influence but with lithium the influence is near total price control.

The Chinese have been schooled on monopolistic pricing by the Aust & Brazilian Iron Ore behemoths which have dominated this commodity for centuries.
