Um, anyone got photos of any lithium battery trucks spontaneously combusting? Nope, didn't think so.
Everyone here stating alternatives are small-minded and focussing on consumer vehicles. Sure, there have been a handful of issues - I'd bet mostly due to driver error. But this is just the small end of town.........
Lithium is all about MASS TRANSPORT. Reduce the weight of mass transport and you're on a huge winner.....
