Talking of plurals reminds me of my daughter when she was small.

We are driving in the car and she starts screaming fock, fock, fock!

I was thinking where did she pick that vulgarity up from.

As she continued, I saw what it was that caused the out burst.

Some time earlier I had seen a fox and tried to point it out to her.

There must have been two at that earlier time, which is common and I had just seen the one.

So now that she sees one, she figures 2 or more fox (focks) is the plural, then one is a fock.
