i think its important to recognise that the pharmaceuitcal industry is based on formulating toxins and then trying to determine a relatively safe dosage to give. they cost allot to develop because 1/3 of them are dropped from development or distribution for toxicity.
however there are new promising forms of medicine emerging (cellular/gene). i believe this is where the exciting future lies. non toxic therapy that is tackling big health issues such as diabetes, heart failure and cancer.
