The Egyptians had the luck to live near a river which on a yearly basis deposited rich soil to grow food on - our Aboriginals had a large, very dry continent. Also no outside competition from other tribes/ peoples, just individual tribes - small, yes bickering, but no real need to become technologically advanced. They managed this land pretty well, but were lucky to be so isolated. - until the big ships loomed on the horizon . . .
