    Yep. Well, when I was coming & going from bases a couple of years ago. They did put un-armed diggers at the entrance for a while when there was the enhanced level of threat after 9/11. But normally its just your plain old renta security guards.

    I doubt they would have gotten anywhere near killing 'hundreds'. But like I said, diggers on base dont walk around with live ammo, unless they are at the firing range.

    I assume the base has some sort of standard operating procedure to respond to these types of attacks but I doubt it would prevent at least a handful of people getting killed.
