Probably short term pain (as we're seeing now) but better in the long run with more sustainability.
China has always looked at the multi TRILLION dollar market caps in the US and the power those institutions hold and said "Yeah, we dont want that". Does that mean they want to kill their companies? No. They just dont want their companies to be too big to fail and have tremendous power over the government.
