I was probably a bigger petrol/diesel head than you, mate. but as Bob Dillan said :'The times they are a changin" and Western Governments and China have already decided to be carbon neutral by 2050-60 whether you like it or not.
When it comes to this ev via hybrids transition it futile to suck the trend that is unless you have bucks to burn, IMO.
Just look at the tax on fuel in the EU/UK at present with oodles more to come, IMO.
