What puts me off EVs is batteries - lifespan vs cost vs replacement cost. Also affects resale depending on where it is in its battery life.
Im in WA, the pittance Western Power pays you for solar is hardly worth the effort now, and they have the monopoly so there’s no shopping around. I’ve had solar on my last two houses, the first one was well worth it, I think I was paid 47/48c, I actually made money, now it’s 7/8c, Western Power may as well have a gun and balaclava when they charge at the moment. The WA Government just spent 100s of millions propping up a coal mine that is the worst managed coal mine in the history of mining. We’ve discussed putting a battery on, but as with the EVs it comes down to the economics of the batteries.
Since Holden and Ford shut shop we’ve had an influx of Yank tank 4x4s in WA. More servos have gone up in the last 5 Years where I live than in the previous 10 Years. If the powers that be are advocating Fuel going away it doesn’t appear to be noticeable in actions, only words. Reminds me of Al Gores presidential campaign, a lot of words, the few made money, and not much results.
