I'd say the fact that they have run a public inquiry to review the domgas policy and the review enjoying bipartisan support means it is being considered. Whether it will ultimately be changed is an entirely different matter. Policies alone may not win many brownie points, but the outcome certainly will. If they decide to do nothing and the key PB players go with their smaller output, the gas price will rise from here. But if they do change it and the supply still doesn't make up for the expected deficit, then the price will rise anyway but by a smaller amount. In some ways, they are sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place. It's like some people stating that all the money spent on Y2K was a waste and it was simply an overblown theory created by the IT industry to make money - simply because nothing major broke. I was a programmer back then and I certainly fixed quite a few bugs where the programs involved would most certainly have been broken.

Basically, the WA govt can only make their best objective call with the available information presented to them. The way I see it, there is a structural deficit coming. If they maintain status quo and do nothing, the outcome is almost a certainty unless of course, there is a major shift in that forecasted structural demand such as a significant amount of the industrial consumptions shut up shops - then WA has far bigger issues to deal with than just gas price.

Re MIN. If (very big IF) there is a SoA proposal coming from them, I'd rather it come when their price is 52 than 80+
