I beg to differ. The libs are free marketeers who believe the market is the best mechanism to achieving utopia. The libs also believe in privatisation.
The Nats dont really like free markets that much & definitely are against privatisation, because privatisation of govt assets normally results in less services to the regions.
The libs having a city-centric focus. The Nats having a country-centric focus.
The Nats are pretty much irrelevant on their own so they need to be with someone. The Libs being their mail order bride.
