Woodside Energy (WDS) CEO Meg O'Neill said on Wednesday the precedent for mergers in the oil and gas sector was for low to no premium, when asked about a proposed merger with Santos (STO) .
"I would note there have been a number of mergers announced within the last three or four months in the oil and gas sector, in both Europe and the US and the precedents for our sector is really low to nil premium," O'Neill said in an interview following the company's fourth quarter results.
She declined to comment specifically on the proposed merger, which Woodside has said is at an early stage.
