Anyone with a basic Australian history education would know that Australia Day is NOT about Captain Cook. He sailed up the east coast in 1770. The British arrived (Capt Arthur Phillip) with their First Fleet in January 1788 (hence Australia Day). Of course, it also started the process of British colonisation of the continent which is why a significant portion of the Australian population are choosing to describe Australia Day as 'Invasion' or 'Survival' Day. Which is why Australia Day is not about Capt Cook at all.
