What is the feeble excuse for not having a hybrid meeting?
Is this move a sign that the company is in financial trouble because there is provision in the Corp Act, to seek permission from ASIC to have virtual only meeting.
I made a submission to Treasury when they were drafting legislation for electronic documentation to mandate hybrid AGM as the only standard. My recommendation was that the only acceptable reason for going virtual , is to follow a Federal or State Health ministry directive.
They ignored my recommendation and there is no protection for retail investors, either from the board or the T20 investors in forcing a virtual meeting.
At the last 2 AGM’s that I attended, I requested for the above amendment should be made to the Constitution….the retort, we wouldn’t abuse our trust to retail investors
