My understanding of the issues with Livent at Hombre Muerto is that it purely relates to fresh water consumption, not brine depletion. The argument that “brine is water and they’re all connected to the water table so it’s all the same thing” is highly theoretical and very location-dependent. My understanding of GLN is that they have access to large reserves on low salinity “fresh water” on the Candelas tenements which avoids any impacts to local community water supplies. Happy to be corrected on that.
On the topic of fresh water consumption, Lake are at best average over the long term, and horrendous for the first two years. On the topic of their brine consumption, good luck getting environmental approval to reinject that stuff after dosing the crap out of it with acid and caustic. All IMO.
