    lt depends.

There is no one answer to that question imo.

lf you are a commuter or a ' normal ' suburban driver who occasionally goes on long trips like most Australians then an ev is perfect for you today.

A bit more expensive up front but then the servicing costs etc balance that. Before too long you'll be able to buy an ev with V2G then you can really make it worthwhile. Especially with home solar .

Charging stations are rolling out all over the country very quickly now so long range anxiety is disappearing . l see there are a few clever little startups where people with evs are willing to share their charging with others for a small fee. lt's a bit like the free camping apps where people with common interests form groups and share info that otherwise isn't available.

lf you are someone who uses a 4wd as a daily like me then if you had to buy a new one tomorrow , you would have to buy an ice version.

However, if you were to buy one you would have to do one of two things . Flip it early in it's life or keep it for a long time. ln 10 years it will be worthless.

lt is an absolute lottery on which year in the next ten that its value will drop to scrap value but one can be pretty certain that its going to happen . l certainly wouldn't bet against it.

Lots of companies are working on electric suvs because suvs are so popular. There is a tidal wave of them coming.

That means that when they hit the market in a few years there will be a lot of choice and a lot of options. l expect that they will all come with things like V2G , on board power station, on board air compressors, front trunks, under floor storage space etc . Just about all the things that an ice vehicle can't do.
Even if they still struggle with towing range there will be so much fast charging available it won't matter.

When that happens the value of the ice version will crater . Almost overnight.

So if you're planning to buy an suv for the long haul you better be prepared to keep it till its end of life in order to maximise your value.
