yes bacci.... the one and only broken promise. but at the least it has been called for for more than 2 years by a wide range of cohorts, from economists to wealthy wage earners and 90% of those who miss out on the benefits of the S3TCs.

Morrison's plan was very poor economics and fiscal strategy. they would have damaged the Govt revenue for no benefit to either the Govt or the economy. the modification still gives a significant benefit to the wealthy wage earners while giving a significant benefit to the less well off, who will spend all the benefits on food, rent and paying important, necessary bills.

the S3tc changes are indeed a broken promise. call it a lie if you like but given the past abuses of truth, comparatively, its has little significance.

my disappointment in this decision stems from a) the breach of promise, b) the abandonment of what I thought was a sensible strategy of keeping the Morrison legislated plan and taking it to the election for a mandate to address the inequality and fiscal recklessness, and c) what is see as a cynical political strategy to affect the upcoming by-elections.
