Is the federal govt being increasingly influenced by the Islamic lobby here? It's often a case of size doesn't matter as much as how outspoken, angry and volatile the population is.
I note how cautious the Labor govt has been in its support for Israel - it did support them at the start - and how that support has been incrementally withdrawn. Now I understand it has slowed its military supply aid to a trickle. The squeaky wheel gets the oil.
This will increasingly be the agenda of Labor. It is the agenda of parties of the left worldwide now. And meanwhile, as you say, the Islamic lobby gets bigger and bigger and family benefits get paid out to families where there is more than one wife.
