Moosey - You may note that I was NOT disputing Mike's credentials as a nuclear engineer - I was suggesting that he was erroneously quoting the physics of AVLIS technology rather than SILEX. Transmutation is totally different from enrichment. In the case of enrichment you are separating isotopes of the same element rather than changing the element (as in transmutation) - a fast reactor is a more efficient way of transmuting elements.
You may dispute it but Silex has NOTHING to do with transmutation. It maybe that lasers could be used (IMO inefficiently) for transmutation but lasers can also be used for facial surgery - is that one of your new rabbit holes?
I suggest you read and understand the Snyder paper on Silex before commenting more:
https://scienceandglobalsecurity.org/archive/sgs24snyder_app.pdf
Note that on page S12 he gives precis reasons for why Silex has advantages for enrichment of tails
