I agree with what you are saying.I think myself that WM is not an idiot and he has got the best person to advise him and CDU.I think he will take advice on those areas that he is paying out for.
From what I can gather about the staff up there they seem to be happy with everything and at the moment see the SP as a cheap way to buy more themselves.
(only rumours not fact)
