I can not visualise the flexure zone , in 3D ( would be nice to see a paper mache model of the ore body inc flexure zone ) , so can not offer a definitive opinion on your hypothesis , would have thought though at say a usual 60 degree angle to surface it would be hard to hit the flexure zone and then find the ore body again , with the same azimuth (no bend in the drilling angles ) all the way down ?
Funny thing about "amateur ideas" is that often they break the paradigm of previous failures (like a couple of bike mechanic brothers putting a little petrol engine on a glider ) and are successful so maybe you are on the money .
