Reading today 'Utes & SUV's "won't meet" pollution Regs! The Albanese Government released three potential options for a proposed fuel efficiency standard, which is being geared to come into effect next year and would impose a fleet-wide cap on average emissions. Car brands will be penalised if the average emissions of vehicles imported exceed the cap! The aim being to increase the uptake of low-emissions & zero-emission vehicles. Apparently many of Australia's most popular vehicles already exceed the target creating fear that certain models could be phased out or become more expensive. Some of these models mentioned that will already be above the average standard are Ford Everest & Ranger - Nissan Patrol & Pathfinder - Mitsubishi Triton - Toyota Land Cruiser, Prado & HiLux. BIG shove coming from the government, and it is required to wake people up to the fact as to what is pending and of course consumers need to understand what will be happening to the value of their/our present ICE vehicles. My opinion is a lot of Australians have their heads in the sand and really need to address their situations carefully or being at the risk of losing out. The push & incentives for Electric Vehicles are only going to get stronger & louder. My opinion. GLAH
