"Aged Care costs MONEY....The more money you have, the better care you are likely to receive.
I make that statement as a "general situation" comment."
What happens the more more you have the more you pay.
If you have been a welfare recipient all your life and dont own anything, If you have nothing but a pension they take a portion of it. No other fees. If you own a home. You will have to sell it or rent it to create income they will take.
I think things have changed but when my mother went into aged care she paid - $330,00 Accommodation Bond up front. Then on a fortnightly basis there was a Basic fee, an Income and Asset Tested Fee and an Extra Services Fee. All up about $1,500 a fortnight.
Some people who only had a pension didn't pay a cent out of their own pocket. All had similar rooms etc
As Ive said many times -
In Australia the harder you work the more the Govt screws you over AND the less you work the more the Govt throws $$$ at you.
