May I suggest that you do some reading on the history of Assad' secular Government and the US role in toppling it by teaming up with Uncle Sam nemesis , the Muslim Brotherhood and misc. muslim militant groups. (your enemy's enemy is your friend ...very Machiavellian..eh?)
The reason the US wants the Assad regime debunked is: (a) it is and has been aligned with Russia (b) it is seen by Israel as a National Security threat ever since Israel annexed Syria's Golan Heights
