30 Jan 2024Woodside has halted installation of a vital offshore gas pipeline for its $18 billion Scarborough gas project after a serious incident on Monday night ripped a gaping hole in the pipeline, prompting a union claim that shortcuts were being taken on safety.
The Castorone pipeline installation vessel lost control of the pipeline it was installing off the Pilbara coast, forcing an evacuation of workers and damaging the pipeline, according to a source not authorised to speak to the media. It was the second serious safety incident on the 330-metre long vessel this month.
