I am pretty sure you can walk in to one of the bigger travel agents in your city/town , and exchange $AU for $US.
I was given that info last time we were at this stage in parity . ( phone first maybe).
There of course will be a 'difference' from official exchange rates , as that would be how they generate a 'handling' fee.
The airport may also know.
