I think this preoccupation with insurance is irrelevant and another form of alarmism - like "woe is me" or "woe is us" - "that blah blah blah"!

Insurance is a business. They will ensure it is profitable in the sense that they make "normal profits". However, if they are making abnormal profits ie gouging by eg blaming MMGW for increasing premiums above "normal" levels, then new players will enter the market until they are back to "normal profits".

So, premiums will be set at a rate commensurate with level of claims be it just bad weather, fire bugs, elephants running rampant in a community or whatever.
