    Governments build roads.

Are you suggesting that every trucking company builds their own roads?

Or are you suggesting that we have duplicate roads to all major cities?

We all will pay for the duplication of roads and infrastructure in some form, despite what you may think.

The government builds the roads, they do not build the trucks.
Anyone can built a truck and use it on the road.
That is where the competition comes in by building the trucks and not in the building of roads.

I know the government makes the decision as to what roads we have, but that is their job.
And at every election we can tell them that we are either happy or we are not happy with their choice of roads.

The NBN is no different to building roads.

If the market believes that there is merit in building a duplicate or new type of road, then I am sure the market will do that.
Still waiting for that to happen though.

Do you know how the NBN is being funded?

When the government sells their share of the NBN down the track, the funding used from the "infrastructure bonds" can be paid back.
What value will a world class NBN be worth in 10 years?
10, 20, 30, 40, 50 billion? Even if we only get half of the investment back in ten years, Australia will still have a world class NBN for not much money over the 10 year period.

The Liberal Coalition plan is to give our money away to business. How is that good for the tax payer?
Their plan is still fragmented and still does not address any of the issues that have been holding our telecommunications industry back for many years.

If Telstra had have been split in the first place or split by Telstra themselves, then there would more than likely never have been a need for the NBN.

If you truly believe that Telstra has under performed due to the ACCC, wouldn't it make sense to split Telstra and get the monkey off their back?
