I agree this could be part of the problem. the specs required for tower construction should have ensured the towers were adequate to withstand high velocity winds. could be the engineering specs were downgraded due to corporate profit interest too.
SA towers collapsed in 2019. as GW progresses we can expect more of this. its time the Govt demanded underground or tubular above ground transmission lines.
theres a good argument here for the renationalising of the grid. such as essential service should not have been privatised in the first place.

Steel also corrodes.
I read somewhere that the Ch7 transmission tower on Mt Cootha (Brisbane) had to be decommissioned because of corrosion. The tower is still standing….at least the bottom half .
