they better fix the power issues and put the power lines underground
Above ground transmission lines and distribution lines can be repaired in a relatively short time frame. Lower voltage distribution cables in the suburbs could be put underground at considerable cost. It would be nice to get rid of the visual pollution where I live.
The network providers can replace poles very quickly. Transmission line providers keep some temporary pylons that they use before making the final repairs.
Maybe they would need to investigate whether they can build pylons that can withstand the occasional tornado conditions that can occur from time to time. The wind must whip the cables around severely to bring pylons down. Maybe they would space stronger pylons closer together.

Temporary replacements for three of the toppled towers, owned by AusNet Services, are expected to be in place in five-to-seven days, with another five days required for the rest.
I wonder how they would go about putting the cables that came down underground in a cost effective way that allows for easy repair.
If one broke they'd probably string up a temporary overhead link while they fixed it.
