we can’t compete on cost for most things anyway due to our horrific IR/unions, high taxation and energy costs. We are simply lucky with regards to iron ore deposits.
One potential left field event for BHP and RIO will be the resolution copper mine. I’m assuming republicans win the USA elections which means the democrats who reversed the mine approvals gets canned. So we will likely have a tier 1 copper mine coming online.
