The cost is not 43 billion. It's the interest on 26 billion (max at a time) over max 15 years deducted from the sale price of NBN at year 15.
lol, who's going to buy this monolith? It's not profitable. You can't purport to be interested in creating infrastructure and then claim it as a profitable enterprise. Infrastructure is a cost. As sure as taxes, if anyone were willing to be with me over 15 years I can almost guarantee that the NBN will end up costing taxpayers far more than $43bill.
If anyone does buy it, it will either be heavily subsidised by governments (similar to transport ownership) and be a monopoly, taking us back to the debacle of the Telstra monoploy. There's no forward thinking in this one, just a sucker policy to get votes.
