with respect to soccer, if a whole season of football cannot differentiate two teams, and then a final match played to regular time cannot differentiate them, then replaying the game a week later does not offer anything new in the evaluation.

no soccer fans i know find the concept of extra time to be distasteful, and very few dislike penalties.
