Seems like a few people were desperate to buy before the Monday announcement. Up $1 during the day and 20c on close ( matching prices) which is the biggest close price increase that I can remember.
We know what the profit is, The key will be the outlook. January HRC prices were well over $1000 while in February its over $900. Than it looks abit murky with March contracts at the low $800. Predicting profit outlook is hard.
I expect the buyback to continue while I suspect there may be a surprise considering the amount of cash the company is sitting on. Perhaps a capital return or a special dividend.
